Why is it called 2 roads and two destinies?

These are the verses referred to in the name 2 Roads and 2 Destinies

Matt 7:13-14

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Notice several things about these passages

2 gates

2 ways

1.The straight gate is mentioned first because it is preeminent.

2.The wide gate last because to enter it there is no searching and plenty of room.

First the wide gate and way are described to us.

It is a wide gate and a broad way and it’s end is destruction, men are said to go in at it but never by any effort.

THE BIBLE TEACHES US THAT SIN ENTERED THE WORLD BY ONE MAN AND BECAUSE OF THIS WE ARE ALL NOW SINNERS BY NATURE AND PRACTICE.

Rom 5:12

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

David said he was a sinner from birth, not because of a sin committed by his parents but he understood his nature was sinful.

Ps 51:5

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Eph 2:1-3

2:1 And you hath he quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Looking at the commandments of God the bible says.

Gal 3:22

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

This is the gate we all enter and it is wide , broad , and leads to destruction.

2 Thess 1:9

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

The straight ,or, narrow gate is shown to us to be a gate of decision.

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it

Jesus said in the bible;

John 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Many don’t find the way because we feel we are to good to be sinners, or maybe our good will outweigh the bad we have done but God’s standard is perfection or death.

Ps 49:11

11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

But God says again.

Isa 64:6

6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Why can we enter into heaven having sinned against a Holy God and being under His Judgment?

Because Jesus paid for our sins once and for all when He died on the cross.

Isa 53:6

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

2 Cor 5:20-21

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he, (God the Father)hath made him (Jesus Christ, God the Son), to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Why then is this, (straight gate), difficult to enter into?

It’s not because God has made it hard but because we sometimes don’t really accept we are sinners against God and need to be saved from our sins and the judgment they bring.

Jesus said;

John 5:39-40

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Will you turn from your sins and receive Jesus Christ as your savior now?
